Long Live IKE |
December 13, 2007 |
What an amazing talent, a god amongst men. I'm so sad that Ike has gone and can no longer entertain and amaze us with his awesome talent. I am glad that in the last years of his life he came forward to the front of the stage and had the chance to receive the accolades and recognition he so richly deserved. My thoughts are with his friends, family and musical colleagues right now who must have a big hole in their lives. Ike will always live on, his legacy is massive, LONG LIVE IKE!

Music for eternity |
December 13, 2007 |
God bless you, Ike
men die but the music they create stays forever. May you play at an eternal jam session up there with your Memphis buddies Howlin' Wolf, Elvis, Jackie Brenston and discuss again and again with Sam Phillips about how rock'n'roll will last. There is no black or white music but just music from the soul. As your colleague Sam Phillips once said about the blues : "this is where the soul of man never dies". Let some room for me poor musician (no great talent but it comes from the heart) up there, so that I'll meet you at last and maybe play some music with you.
See you,
Steff.

Great Entertainer, Caring Friend |
December 13, 2007 |
What a conundrum! In spite of all that I'd heard, you proved to be one of the kindest, most gentle and loving people I have ever come to know. I am ever grateful to you for your warm hospitality, your ferocious artistry and that crazy sense of humor. The interview you gave and the subsequent friendship that developed between us (and your family) remain dear. How wonderful that you got to know God AND grab that solo Grammy before He called you home. You will be missed. My condolences to Audrey and the Boys, as well as the community that cherished you in San Marcos.

December 13, 2007 |
I have been a fan since the early 70's and have always like his music -
It is sad but true, rock and roll has lost one of it's originator and all rockers will thank Ike for his contribution to the rock and roll music.
Rest in peace Ike, we will always remember you.......................
