A True Pioneer Has Left Us |

Ihave been a fan of Ike's since my teen years(I'm 47 now),and never heard another like him. Mostly everything we heard was In the negative(ie,Tina), and very few bothered to get to know the real man. With the release of the first rock and roll record"Rocket 88",a genius was released to the music world. Without Ike,we would never had all the rock groups and individuals that came after him. Ike to me,you, and not that pretender from Tupelo,Mississippi, was the true King of Rock and Roll.Rest in peace, and know that you will be missed and loved by all that your music touched.God Bless, and to Ike's family'you truly have my deepest condolences.
Shockingly saddened |
I have no choice, I cant help but to show respect |

I was driving my cousin to work 5am and they said on the radio Ike passed away. I didn't feel a thing because i DID NOT care, but for some reason I went to my grandmothers house and told her the news, her reaction was shocking she's usually a loving caring God fearing woman, and once I told her and heard her response, I became angry, I told her not to say such a thing like that about him, she made a couple refrences, and there his face was on the view with Tina. Ike was a handsome man and i only know of his music with her, and from the movie. Whatever his situation was we may never know and I realize some may never care because of their true last memory of him on the big screen, but I have to say in my love of music no matter what went down I respect him and his vision, my he rest in peace, and continue to rock on in death as he did in life.

Mixed emotions |

While in cosmetology school we were a tight knit class and we would always have one thing to say to each other when we weren't acting right or doing what was expected [an excerp from whats love got to do with it] and it would bring us laughter and joy. A long time ago I was in a group, and we had a big oppertunity to make music with Ike but I was scared my only thoughts and references i have ever had towards him is "whats love got to do with it" and my image of him is distorted, yet I feel saddened that he has passed. The public will never know the real truth or Ike's point of veiw, which i always wanted to hear or know. The only memories I have of him is his voice in the songs he sang with Tina. And sort of seeing him at a hair show that did a Ike and Tina show and the performers looked dead on the two (from my images i have of them in my head)
In saying this I have never known the man and never did want to know him, this is why i passed up the oppertunity to work with him, but I am glad that he is away from the publics negative thoughts of him, and hope he can and will rest well. my condolences to the Turner family. God Bless

Ike was my hero |

Ike was as much an influence to popular music as Elvis and The Beatles, He revolutionised music as we know it. I'm sure had he been white his place in history would been cemented many years ago.
Ike was a bluesman through and through, I last saw Ike in Nantes (France) 2002, it was a great night and one I shall always treasure.
Well big guy I will never forget you we share the same birth date 5th November and I have a lot of your albums bought over many years and your last album was stunning and still brings a smile too my face, with your word play on the Eddie Boyd classic 5 long years (or your version 18 long years).
Rest in peace, you deserve it.

An icon, a legend, and a very talented individual. Thank you for being uniquely Ike. Who could ever forget the crisp bass background voice in the hit song"Proud Mary".
