Condolences
Larry Byrd Mama Morgan December 15, 2007
My Mother finally died 2 years ago.  But Ike would make it a point to stop off and visit every so often.  This allowed me to know the real Ike Turner and for that I am thankful and for the joy he brought to my Mother on those visits.  Rest in peace Ike.
Thomas After all those years... December 15, 2007

After all those years I find it hard to believe Tina can only say "..no further comment..."  Shame on her... wasn't the movie enough payback?

May the man, I never knew, rest in peace and his family and friends find closure and always remember the good times!

Rosemary Harris Condolence December 15, 2007

I was very sad to hear that Mr. Turner passed on to a better place, even through I wasn't even born when he came on to the music sence I heard his music played in my house as a young gril.  He was a very good musician and I enjoyed his music.  To the Turner family may god with you in this time of sadness, he will live on in each one of his family members.

God Bless!

Bob Daniels Legend Acknowledged December 15, 2007

In the subculture of real fans and students of rock history there is no one who can hold a candle to Ike Turner.

From Rocket 88 to the early influence on Elvis in the juke joints of West Memphis Arkansas juke, to the years as the boss of East St. Louis, to the Ike and Tina years, to the bottom of the barrel, back to a hand in early rap with Salt n Peppa's Shoop (based on Ike's "I'm Blue), to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, to a 2007 Grammy - show me another musician who began as early in life, influenced so many, and got up off the mat to still be creating great music in his last days.  There is not another.  There is only one, Ike.

Rest in peace.  We will miss you.

Ike's music will live on...........and on as long as there are musicians-thanks for the music Ike; and we can't help where we're born-Clarksdale, MS!  Now, may he rest in peace and God be with-Ike Turner! My deepest sympathy to the Ike Turner family, friends for the loss of a 'icon', we've lost another 'soulful' one. Gone but not forgotten-too bad a person has to die before something good is said about you.

Ike mein Lieber, mach's gut!
Lisa Lawson A Legend Gone On December 15, 2007

I was sadden to hear about the death of Mr. Ike Turner. The bible teaches us to never judge a book by its cover. It also states that we as fleshly humans are not God therefore we should not judge the man. He had some problems and the only thing that I would wish for is that he made it right with the good Lord before he was called into judgement. It is not our job to judge what a person might have have been or might become because we all have stones hidden in our closets. Praise God for the talent that he gave to Ike because without Ike there would be no Tina Turner. God bless you family.

Karen Ike's San Marcos, California house December 15, 2007

I also live in San Marcos, California, except on the other side of town near the Palomar College (Letter "P") on the mountain area.  Does Ike's little house in San Marcos plan to be put on the real estate market in the future?  I like his little house.

Is there going to be a garage sale or yard sale or estate sale anytime soon at the house? What are they going to do with the house and his belongings?

Neil farewell to a great man December 15, 2007
In terms of their effect on music in the twentieth century and beyond, Ike Turner has only a few peers for me: Ellington, Hank Williams, and Bob Dylan. Blues, rock n' roll,  soul, funk, none of it would ever have been what it was without him, and he made some of the absolute very best of it.  It was an incredible experience for me  a few years ago to be front and centre in the audience at the Sidetrack Cafe in Edmonton for an absolutely blistering show by IKe and the Kings of Rhythm. I still get the shivers thinking about how raw, how rocking, how ALIVE, how PERFECT it was. The sounds he brought to people like Wolf fifty years earlier were in that moment as fresh and exciting as the day they were cut, and  it made virtually all of what passes for modern music sound so old and tired. I wish there was film of it.  It was a total honor to be able to shake the man's hand after the show, and my signed picture and ticket stub are framed and on my wall. The scope of this loss is just staggering. He fought his way through from absolute dirt nothing to be one of the giants. Heartfelt sympathies to Audrey, the family, and the band. Baby, baby, baby, get it on.
