To the Turner family,
I grieve with you for your personal loss of a man that gave much to the music world. No one is perfect. We all have our demons to fight.
Richard Weinheimer RIP December 13, 2007
From  a Blues Lover who knows how important Ike was to the music. Rest in Peace Ike and thanks for "Rocket 88"  Lots of people are happier for his life's work!
Sonja D.F. Green RIP December 13, 2007

To the Turner Family "To absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."  Ike fought his fight and did what he had to do to make it.  May God have mercy on his soul.  Be Blessed.

Micke, Sweden Thank You! December 13, 2007

I`m very happy I got the chance to see you perform this summer.

Thank you for your fantastic music!

scott kiefer what professional December 13, 2007
Ike turner played at the Sparta Bluesfest in 2004, and was the consumate professional. I was vice chair of the festival at that time, and ran the production. He and Audrey both were as friendly and accomadating to the fans as possible. They truly enjoyed performing for the people. Other than "Rocket 88", maybe that's why he's that 'father of rock 'n roll'-- because his music and his fans were his "babies"--outside of his real family. Condolences, prayers and love go out to Audrey, Ike Jr and the other sons, as well as his musical and professional family. He should be revered and remembered for what he did for music, not for his personal actions that were a result of personal demons. His life should be a lesson to some of these crazy rock stars we have now. One thing for sure, Ike may not have been proud of some of the things he did personally, but used his experiences to overcome his addictions and be a better person for it. He continually spoke about the evils of drug abuse to youth groups, but there was hardly any press on that. In the short day I got to spend with him, I realized that Ike was a complex, yet caring man. A true icon of our times. He will be sorely missed.

Chip Eagle Somewhere The Band Just Got Better December 13, 2007

I am the publisher of Blues Revue  (www.bluesrevue.com) magazine; we had Ike on our cover earlier this year. We also publish BluesWax (www.blueswax.com) and featured an interview with Ike earlier this year.

I was also lucky enough to spend some time with Ike on the Blues Cruise when we were shooting the cover and working on the article. I found him to be engaging, humble, polite, and greatly knowledgable about music. He shared several stories with me even though he was obvious not comfortable on the ship (that's putting it politely as he was nearly green!).

But I was even more lucky to get to see him perform several times over that past couple of years. His performances were energetic, interesting, and current while staying true to his roots.

The staff of Blues Revue and BluesWax offer our condolences to Ike Turner's family, friends, and fans. And somewhere the band just got a whole lot better.
