I am so sorry for the loss of this rock icon. I love his music, and I love that he helped to create one of the best female rock stars in all of Black/Native American History. I just hope that Ike's death does not create any un-needed hatred towards his ex-victim. He did what he did. She was a victim, and so maybe at one time so was he. But one thing is for sure - the music that they provided, that HE pretty much created is the best music around and I thank God for his talent. Despite the problems, he really made a terrific and positive improvement in the music world with his incredible and amazing individual musical talent. Sometimes, violent people are really good musicians, Ike was one of them. But his victim "his creation" really rocks. RIP Ike.

December 13, 2007 |
Condolences to the Turner family. I've learned to like Ike, especially in this last 7 years, when i bought his last 2 recordings of blues. He inspired me and pleased me.
I've been thinking of him last tuesday and my heart and best wishes are with him and his family in this moment of lost. Heart and soul...

my heart goes out to all the turner family , friends and fans.
ever since i was a litttle boy i have known about Ike, like many i have heard all the stories i have read some of the books (I, Tina ) and all i can say is that no matter what peoples perception of mr. turner is or was ,God sent him here to give through song and dance and he has filled many hearts with great music. Ike turner a true talent, just think what the world would have been like without the soul versions of "proud mary" or "fool in love" and lets not forget ms. anna mae bullock who grew up to be TINA TURNER I mean come on she is the queeen of rock n roll and if Ike hadnt done what he did none of it may have ever happend, somewhat like the father of michael jackson. i mean cry all the way to the bank.
no disrespect to miss turner> i am also pleased to here all these wonderful stories about how ike found the lord, god bless his soul. and i know in my heart ike deserved that grammy, because hard work always pays off and in the end ike is loved by millions around the world , i dont know of many musicians nowadays who work that hard, its his backbone it was very strong. every musician should pay respect to this legend. go with god ike peace and blessings...
P.S. tina turner is a very classy women i wouldnt be surprised if she shows up to pay her last respects....stay tuned

Only he made me clap |
December 13, 2007 |
Ike Turner was the only musician who was able to get me clapping with the songs during a concert. Saw him for the first time in 1972 in Holland. In 1975 he blew my mind with the Ike and Tina Turner Explosian. It was good that he managed to come back in the 90th. Whatever people said -don't we all love a good villian- he deserved this succes. It was fantastic to see Ike having a smaching time at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2002. And damn, that night he got me clapping again!

Strength to the family |
December 13, 2007 |
Ike Turner is no more. A pioneering musician has played his last tunes. My condolences go to his children. The man who may have been not the best of husbands was one thing for sure: The Daddy od his children. I wish them all the strength they need in these hard days. Having lost my own father just three years ago at the age of 73 I know Ike will be missed.

Long Live IKE |
December 13, 2007 |
What an amazing talent, a god amongst men. I'm so sad that Ike has gone and can no longer entertain and amaze us with his awesome talent. I am glad that in the last years of his life he came forward to the front of the stage and had the chance to receive the accolades and recognition he so richly deserved. My thoughts are with his friends, family and musical colleagues right now who must have a big hole in their lives. Ike will always live on, his legacy is massive, LONG LIVE IKE!
